The Modern Party / Le Parti Moderne is a Canadian federal not-for-profit corporation (Corporations Canada 1581636-0), operating as We Vote On It. Our address is 104-1070 Nelson Street, Vancouver BC V6E 1H8. Write to us at Admin@TheModernParty.ca. These terms cover www.wevoteonit.com, including Join, Donate, Merch, and Our Platform.
Acceptance
By using the site, creating an account, donating, or buying merch, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Eligibility
Our Platform accounts are for Canadian residents who are 18 or older. One account per person. The information you give must be accurate, and you must keep it up to date.
Identity verification
To vote on Our Platform, we may ask you to confirm your identity through Persona, a third-party provider. That check uses a government photo ID and a live selfie. Consistent with our privacy policy, this site keeps the verification result and your riding. We do not keep ID images or selfies. The privacy policy describes the fields we store.
Our Platform
One person, one vote on each issue. Do not impersonate anyone, harass others, post illegal content, send spam, or try to manipulate votes or discussions. We may remove content, limit features, or close a discussion when these rules are broken.
You may delegate a vote to another member. You can revoke a delegation at any time. A direct vote replaces a delegation for that vote.
Your content
You keep ownership of text you post, including comments, proposals, and evidence. You give The Modern Party, operating as We Vote On It, a non-exclusive licence to store and display that content on the site for as long as it remains posted, so the site can operate.
Votes and outcomes
Members vote on Our Platform on bills before the House of Commons. Under the party model, a We Vote On It MP, once elected, is required to vote in the House as the verified members in that riding decide. These votes do not guarantee that a candidate is elected, that a vote is cast in the House, that a bill passes, or any other outcome.
MP scorecards
Scorecards use public House of Commons voting records from ourcommons.ca. They are informational only. They are not an official parliamentary record, and they are not legal or voting advice.
Donations and merch
Donations and merch payments are processed by Stripe. Merch is printed and shipped by Printful and sold at cost, with no profit. A merch purchase is a sale, not a political contribution. We refund a merch order when the item is defective. Write to Admin@TheModernParty.ca to ask.
Donations are subject to applicable law. They are non-refundable except where the law requires a refund. The party is not registered with Elections Canada and does not issue tax receipts.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account, or remove access, if these terms are broken, if the law requires it, or to protect members and the site. You may stop using the site at any time. Some records may be kept as described in the privacy policy.
Disclaimers and liability
The site is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, The Modern Party, operating as We Vote On It, is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the laws of British Columbia or Canada.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply. Courts in British Columbia have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have to bring a claim elsewhere under those laws.
Changes
We may update these terms. The new version will show a new effective date on this page. If you keep using the site after that date, you accept the update. If you do not accept it, stop using the site.
