Our Story
I grew up in North Vancouver and did everything I was told would lead to a good life. I worked hard, went to school, and became a lawyer. Even so, I couldn't afford a home in the place I grew up.
I wasn't the only one. All around me, life was getting harder. Friends were working longer hours just to keep up. Couples were putting off having kids, or deciding not to. Good, reasonable people were doing everything right and still falling behind.
Meanwhile, election after election, politicians from every party made promises to get our votes, then broke them once they were in office. The people around me were sensible, but the decisions coming out of Ottawa rarely helped them.
So I started asking a simple question: why are we still running our country this way, and could we do better?
Most people feel there's nothing we can do. I think there is. We can play by the system's own rules and win. We elect our own representatives to Parliament, and then we hand the power back to you. You decide how they vote, bill by bill.
How do we fix it? We Vote On It — using the technology we now have to ensure that our representatives do as we tell them.
